Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why should I choose physical therapy?
-
After an injury, many patients turn to their doctors for relief from pain. A common understanding of injury and subsequent healing is that since most pain is due to inflammation, the best course of treatment is rest, along with anti-inflammatory medication. Physical therapists evaluate patients using a comprehensive approach to see if there is an underlying cause that may have led to their symptoms. By increasing mobility and overall strength, physical therapy can help patients get better faster, and without recurring pain.

What is manual therapy?
-
Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that requires the highest levels of training and a hands-on approach to the assessment and treatment of the body. Manual therapy includes specific techniques such as joint mobilization and myofascial release/soft tissue massage.

Should I ask my doctor about physical therapy?
-
Yes. You need a prescription from your doctor to be able to come to physical therapy and you should let your doctor know that you would like to come to Probility Physical Therapy for your treatment. It is a good idea to try therapy first, instead of starting off with medicine.
-
What should I bring to my first appointment?
-
You should bring a prescription from your referring physician. Also, bring your driver’s license and insurance card.
-
How long are my appointments?
-
Your first evaluation will last for 60 minutes. After that, each therapy session will be 45 to 60 minutes. Your therapist will perform hands-on therapy and create a specialized rehabilitation exercise program; both of these together take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.
